bali body self tan review blog post

If you didn't already know, I'm pale AF and whilst I fully embrace my skin tone (as everyone should) there are some moments where I just feel better when I have a bit of warmth to my skin. I also find it helps disguise the Keratosis Pilaris redness on my arms and legs which I'm quite insecure about. I've recently been trying out two new products from Bali Body and I have to say they're by far the best self tans I've used! They're quite different from each other so today I'm going to share everything you need to know to help you choose the right one for you.

Bali Body Self Tan Blog Review

The key to a good looking tan is good prep. I always start by making sure I've done my waxing in advance, 3-4 days is usually enough time to let any irritation go down. If you shave I'd recommend doing this several hours before you plan to tan to prevent stubble dots. Personally, I think exfoliation is the most important step as you want to ensure the smoothest base possible. I'll hop in the shower, wash my body as normal and then go in with a physical scrub. I'm constantly switching between products but I'm currently obsessed with the Ameliorate Smoothing Body Exfoliant* which has the right amount of grit without being harsh on the skin. I've been using it for a good few weeks and it's made such a difference! If you want a more affordable option, the Dove Exfoliating Body Scrub Macadamia & Rice Milk is super effective and smells delish! If I remember I'll pair it with my exfoliating gloves for an ultra-smooth finish. Lastly, I apply a small amount of moisturiser to my elbows, hands, feet and underarms to prevent the tan from clinging, my go-to is the Vaseline Intensive Care Spray Moisturiser, it's super lightweight and quick-drying- love!

bali body 1 hour express tan review

Bali Body 1 Hour Express Self Tan*

I'd only tried high-street tanning products before this so I was super excited to try a more high-end option. Not only does the packaging look gorgeous, but it's also great quality. The 1 Hour Express Self Tan* won points straight away as I'm very impatient and this gives you a golden sunkissed glow in just sixty minutes - perfect if you need to go from desk to disco! The aerated mousse formula is so different from others I've tried and I really enjoy the whipped texture. I like to start at my feet and work my way up to prevent any creasing. I'll typically apply 3-4 pumps per body part and there's no real secret to getting a streak-free finish, you just need to work section by section and use the guide colour to check you've covered all areas. This mousse starts to set quite quickly so I like to take extra care around my hands/feet to ensure there are no harsh lines and so far it's been a success! It has a lovely fresh scent upon application and my skin actually feels so hydrated afterwards. If you have more time you can leave the tan on for 2-4 for a deep golden colour but either way, you still end up with a flawless, smooth tan that never looks orange or obvious. Once the tan has developed I'll take a quick lukewarm shower to wash off the guide colour and personally, I find it lasts for a good 7-8 days with the right maintenance and never looks crusty or has the tiger bread effect - what's not to love?

bali body clear self tanning water review

Bali Body Clear Self Tanning Water*

The thought of a clear self-tan was quite intimidating at first but actually, I found this even easier to apply than the former! This transparent water is perfect if you like to sleep in your tan or you're worried about the colour transferring onto your furniture/clothes. Formulated with 100% Natural DHA and nourishing oils, it's a great option if you have sensitive skin but still want a light-medium tan. It comes out as a traditional foam rather than a mousse but still provides an even finish even though there's no guide. Again I use 3-4 pumps per area and start low working up, taking care near any clingy spots. I'm so impressed with how easy and quick it is to apply this tan, I expected it to be quite difficult but the Bali Body Luxe Tanning Mitt* makes the whole process foolproof and mess-free! I find this formula has a slightly more red undertone but the final colour is super flattering and looks like you've been lounging in the sun for a week. It takes around three hours for a warm glow but you can leave it longer for a gorgeous medium tan. I've found that the colour continues to develop once you've showered so it's a great overnight option. To give my skin a bit of colour I use their Face Tan Water* which I apply after cleansing and before moisturising and it always matches my body perfectly and makes me glow!
