murad vita c glycolic brightening serum and dark circle corrector

Vitamin C has seriously blown up this year, becoming the new must-have ingredient to have in your skincare routine. I've dabbled with a few Vitamin C products in the past but hadn't really found anything that ticked all the boxes until the new Murad Environmental Shield Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum* & Vita-C Eyes Dark Circle Corrector* landed on my desk. The latest additions to the Environmental Shield range, this duo is your one-stop-shop for a brighter, smoother complexion. Lockdown skin? We don't know her...

So what's so special about this formula? Usually, Vitamin C products don't last very long as it's hard to keep the product fresh and efficiently stored but the Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum* & Dark Circle Corrector* have been stabilized with Gold and come in an airtight delivery system to prevent the formula from oxidising and going off quicker. It also means more potency for a better result. Vitamin C is extremely important for helping to protect the skin against things like pollution, free radicals and other environmental stressors but also aids dark spot and scar reduction. As the name would suggest, the Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum* also contains Glycolic Acid, something I've never seen before as mixing L-ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and AHAs can cause irritation but Murad have been able to create a gentle balance between the two - genius! I've been using this serum as my AM treatment pretty much daily for the past 2-3 weeks and I've noticed such a difference in the tone and texture of my skin. Most Vitamin C serums have a slightly gritty/siliconey texture but this is a very smooth lotion-serum that absorbs instantly into the skin. Using it once a day I don't notice any sensation on the skin but if you use it both AM & PM or when your skin is feeling more sensitive it might give you that classic tingling effect but it shouldn't be anything overbearing. I find this is a great option when I don't want/have time to use a separate acid toner as I'm still getting the exfoliation which not only helps to resurface and unbind the dead skin cells but also evens out the skin tone and reveals newer skin helping the Vitamin C penetrate better. A lot of Vitamin C products can be quite strong, especially for beginners but this one is super gentle making it a great option for all skin tones and types!

I was super excited to see there was an eye product in this duo as over the last few months I've noticed a few more fine lines pop up and I felt my under eyes were looking particularly dark - sleep who? The Vita-C Eyes Dark Circle Corrector* has a peachy tint and contains light-reflection micro-minerals which gives an immediate brightening effect. For me, my dark circles are more prominent as I'm quite fair and the skin around my eyes is very thin meaning any pigment is more noticeable. The serum is formulated to target multiple types of dark circles: Blue/purple: Low microcirculation and thin skin around the eyes increases the visibility of unoxygenated blood (which is blue). Brown: Sun damage, irritation and genetics can result in hyperpigmentation. Red: Triggered by inflammation, irritation and allergies. It also features Red & Brown Algae Extract to help depuff and soothe & Cucumber Extract to visibly smooth wrinkles. Again I tend to use this in the AM as I want all the luminosity I can get. The texture is a lightweight lotion/cream that feels lovely and smooth on the skin and layers well with other products. It also makes a lovely base for makeup and I find my concealer sits particularly well on top. Since using this I've noticed my dark circles are definitely less prominent and don't look so stark. Due to my sleep pattern and genetics, they'll never fully go away but now I can cheat looking perky and well-slept even though I'm exhausted and running on 3 coffees a day (whoops).

Being Murad they're obviously on the pricier side but if you have the budget and are looking to invest in your skin I would highly recommend checking them out for instant glow and protection!
