I love beauty at this time of year. All of the Autumn collections have launched and we're surrounded by berry lips and smoldering eyes - it instantly makes me think of Sarah from Hocus Pocus! Even though I'm not the most experimental person when it comes to my makeup I still have so much fun discovering new faves around this time of year. My skin is also a lot more manageable during the colder months so I have the chance to add more products to my routine. Every four-ish months I like to put together a little selection of my top picks for that season and today I'm showing you what made the cut for Autumn!
autumn beauty picks blog post
Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes | Exaggereyes Palette | I love doing a soft, blown out smokey eye in Autumn and although I don't go that intense I still like to use warm browns to help draw attention to my eyes. This quad has three dreamy eyeshadows and a pressed glitter which looks stunning on the lids! I love everything about this from the formula to the pigmentation, unfortunately, it was a limited edition and isn't available anymore but Charlotte has quite a few other ones that are similar!

OUAI Texturising Hair Spray* | I hardly ever bother with styling products but this is something I use every time I do my hair. It adds texture without being greasy or sticky which is a big pet peeve of mine and is amazing at keeping my hair in place all day - especially if I've straightened it! I have the travel size and I'm still not even half way through it! It smells amazing too!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick | Recently I'm enjoying keeping my base really fresh and this foundation has been my go-to as it gives me a good medium-buildable coverage but still lets my skin show through. Once I've finished my skincare routine I apply it in sections, buffing with a brush as I go. The finish is seriosuly beautiful!

Glossier You | Who remembers when I used to rave about this? It feels like years ago since this came out but it hasn't actually been that long. This will always be in my top three perfumes, one because it reminds me of good times but also because the scent is so subtle and creamy. It's such a weird scent to describe but it's perfect for anyone who just likes to smell 'good'! My review

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Matte Lip in Berry-Much | This is currently the only dark lip in my collection but it's the only one I've found where I like both the texture and colour. It's a true purple-pink berry shade and I love that it injects a bit of warmth into the face rather than just making me look ghostly. Love!

Illamasqua Colour Veil Blush in Tonic* | A few weeks ago I attended the launch event for Illamasqua's new studio in Box Park (which is beautiful by the way) and I got a sneak peek at some of their stunning new products. I have such a big love for this brand as it's one of the first ones I tried back when I wanted to be a makeup artist. I'd only ever used their primer and foundation but at the studio, I got to try their new jelly blushers which have the coolest texture! The shade I have is quite peachy and gives a gorgeous flush if you're fair like me. If you like a creamier formula when it comes to cheek products you have to check these out!

Clinique Moisture Surge 72 Hour Auto Replenishing Hydrator | I've wanted to try this moisturiser for such a long time as my skin is constantly craving hydration and this seems to be the favourite for everyone. The packaging is so pretty (you all know I love anything pink) but more importantly this is a brilliant moisturiser for anyone with dry/dehydrated skin. It has a cream-gel texture which feels super light-weight and leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft and hydrated without being greasy. It's perfect for underneath makeup too!

There have definitely been a few moments this year when the pressure to upload has felt really overwhelming or personal issues have forced me to take breaks and second guess myself as a blogger but I truly love what I do and I'm so glad I've stuck with it and carried on. It got me thinking that it might be helpful to some of you to share a few of my top tips for staying motivated and also give you a little insight as to how I typically plan my day including scheduling blog content, posting on my socials and all that jazz related to blogging.
five tips for staying motivated as a blogger blog post
Get Yourself A Planner | I probably have three or four half used notebooks in my cupboard which I know isn't great but for some reason, I've never actually found them useful. Most of the time I'll jot down notes on my phone as it's so much quicker but I still like an actual written planner because it makes me feel things are actually getting done (yes I'm anal like that.) I found this Lady Jayne Marble 18 Month Planer in TK Maxx and it's literally the best thing since sliced bread! It's a sort of half diary half notebook and it includes monthly/weekly calendars and also plenty of space for notes. I find it much easier to get things done with this. If you don't have something like this get thee to a TK Maxx asap! They have so many cute designs, I'm tempted to buy a spare!

Pay Attention To Those Burn Out Symptoms | I'm terrible with this and it's definitely something I need to start doing more often. It's very natural and common to feel deflated and stuck whilst blogging, especially if you've had a busy month and used up a lot of your best ideas. So when you start to feel that drop in enthusiasm take it as a sign you might need a break. A big part of blogging is creativity and forcing it isn't helpful at all so don't feel bad about stepping back every now and then.

Plan Your Day Early | Recently I've been trying super hard to break my night-owl pattern and it has been working for the most part. I'll never be one of those people who gets up at 5am for a morning jog but knowing I'm waking up slightly earlier and sorting out my jobs for the day makes me more positive and energetic to get everything done. I spend about 10 minutes listing my tasks both blogging and domestic, usually starting with the latter. There is always something to be done related to blogging whether it's writing and scheduling posts, taking photos for Instagram, replying to comments, the list goes on but I really enjoy being kept busy and I wouldn't be able to get half the things done without having a game plan ready.

Create Content You're Proud Of | We're always hearing people say 'post content you want to see' but it's a lot easier said than done. I'm extremely critical of myself and anything I do, I can sometimes take over two hours just to take the (near) perfect blog photo. I always notice the negatives in what I do but as soon as I start focusing on things I'm actually proud of it's almost like a placebo effect and I notice myself creating more and more content that I'm super happy with. If you're feeling stuck for inspiration think back to blog posts you're proud of and it'll definitely spark ideas of projects you'll enjoy creating.

Remember Why You Started In The First Place & Just Enjoy It | Most people will tell you they started blogging as a hobby or out of sheer curiosity but that's exactly what you should think about if you ever feel unmotivated. You have to have a passion for what you blog about otherwise it will simply feel like a chore. Also engaging with other bloggers/beauty addicts (or whatever your niche) is so important as it's always nice and encouraging to share a passion with someone else. I've made so many amazing friends through blogging and they really inspire me to keep going and focus on my goals and what I want to achieve from blogging as a career.

I know these aren't groundbreaking tips but I just wanted to share some of the recent things that have made a difference to me.

Every now and then I like to treat myself to some slightly pricier makeup products. It'll usually be after hearing a blogger rave about a new product or if I need to repurchase one of my absolute ride or dies. Most of the time my luxury beauty purchases tend to be successful and today I wanted to talk you through some of the high-end makeup products that to me are 100% worth the splurge!
high end makeup products that are worth the splurge blog post
Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter | Everyone went crazy when this baby launched and it didn't take me long to see why. It's a primer/highlighter hybrid and is one of the best cream products for achieving a beautiful (intense) glow. I love how it soft focuses and blurs pores whilst still giving a dewy finish to the skin. My favourite way to apply it is with my fingers dabbed on the high points of the face. The glow is real!

Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soliel Bronzer | Most of you will probably know bronzer isn't really a staple in my routine as I've never managed to find one that works with my fair skin. I've always heard people say this was the best offering so I decided to purchase it and I'm so glad I did! It's a very light bronzer with a neutral undertone which works perfectly if you're pale like me. The texture is so smooth and blendable and I love the fact it's matte as it can double as a contour powder. How fab is that?

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation | I think every beauty lover has probably tried this foundation at some point in their life. It's such a classic and is perfect for those days when you want a really flawless base. The coverage is definitely a medium-full depending on how you apply it and it gives a gorgeous satin finish. Mine is just about to run out but I'm definitely going to be purchasing a new one soon!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette | I can't remember the last time I did a proper smokey eye. It's just not my thing anymore but I do still like a bit of something on the lids. I love a warm-toned eye look and this palette will always be my go-to for a subtle wash of rose-gold goodness. The shadows blend like a dream and the shimmers, in particular, have a beautiful payoff. Love!

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick Pillow Talk | There aren't many formulas that have really wowed me over the past year or so but this lipstick completely changed the game in terms of lip products. I don't know how Charlotte has done it but this goes on so creamy and smooth but still has amazing pigmentation and staying power. This shade is a cult classic and is perfect for cheating slightly fuller lips. I really want to pick up the Pillow Talk blusher soon!

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara | When I want serious volume and curl this is the mascara I reach for. My lashes are pretty straight so I love anything that's going to add a lot of drama without being clumpy. I only need one coat with this which is another reason why I love it. If you love high-end mascaras I can't recommend this enough!

Clinique Cheek Pop | I absolutely adore this blusher formula. It's pigmented, has a beautiful sheen and applies like a dream. I have the shade Ginger Pop which is perfect for this time of year as it has just the right mix of rose, peach, and pink. I also have Melon Pop which I love to wear in the Summer as it's a lot lighter and warmer but just as pretty!

Skincare has always been a massive interest of mine and Dermalogica products, in particular, have always stood out to me. Everything from their simple yet iconic packaging to the constant rave reviews speaks to the skincare aficionado within me! They're definitely a more high-end brand with their prices roughly starting around the £30 mark but I'm very lucky to have been chosen to be a part of their new #skinfluencer programme! I was kindly sent a bunch of their products and have been testing them out over the past few months and today I'm giving you my two cents!
Dermalogica Skincare Brand Review Blog Post
PreCleanse* | Cleansers are one of my absolute favourite things to try out and I was definitely lacking in the oil department so this came at the perfect time! It's formulated with Borage Seed, Kukui, Apricot Oils and Vitamin E which are all amazing for conditioning the skin. I love using oil-based products to remove makeup and this is one of the best I've tried in a really long time! The texture is a lot thinner than most cleansing oils which I really prefer as it doesn't feel heavy or awkward to massage into the skin. Another great thing about this is it emulsifies with water so it's extremely gentle and easy to remove. It smells amazing too! I can't recommend it enough!

SkinPerfect Primer SPF 30* | This is such an interesting product and very different to anything in my collection. It's a hybrid product that can be used as the last step of your skincare or first step of your makeup routine. It's designed to smooth fine lines, brighten and prime and I can confirm it gives the most beautiful perfected finish to the skin. You only need a small amount and I love how it blurs pores and tones down shine without being overly drying/mattifying. It has quite a siliconey texture but it still feels hydrating which I love. The Pearl Powder gives a gorgeous subtle radiance and the fact that it contains SPF 30 and protects against UV light is just an added bonus! What's not to love?

Special Cleansing Gel* | I've also been testing out this cleanser which has been such a dream in the mornings when I just want something quick and easy. This is a great option if you have combination/oily skin and you enjoy a refreshing gel as opposed to a balm/oil. I like to take a 10p sized amount and massage it straight into my skin and then add a touch of water to create a gorgeous silky lather. Don't be put off by the fact this foams as it's completely soap-free and non-drying! It uses Balm Mint to calm the skin, Lavender Extract to soothe and Quillaja Saponaria to gently foam and remove toxins and debris. I'm obsessed!

Skin Smoothing Cream* | I'm not very fussed when it comes to moisturisers as long as they're hydrating, non-greasy and provide a good base for makeup. This is a medium-weight moisturiser that is perfect for balancing a combination/dry and possibly even an oily skin. It has a beautiful fluid texture that absorbs quickly but still leaves a hydrating layer on the skin. Lecithin deeply moisturises while Aloe Gel nourishes and Mallow, Cucumber, and Arnica soothe and hydrate the skin. There's also Grape Seed Extract and Vitamin C & E which are amazing for shielding against environmental damage and free radicals!

Daily Microfoliant* | I can't explain how excited I was when I noticed this in my parcel! I've heard so many bloggers rave about this product over the years but I just never found myself purchasing it. It's an exfoliating powder that uses Salicylic Acid and Rice Enzymes to polish the skin whilst still being super gentle. It also contains White Tea and Licorice to help balance uneven skin tone. I tend to use this in the evenings and I just pour a small amount into my hands, add some water to create a paste and massage it into the skin avoiding the eye area. They say it can be used daily but I find two-three times a week is enough as it leaves my skin incredibly smooth and glowy for days!

Growing up I always received lovely comments on my hair but it's not always as healthy and well-behaved as people think. Over the past 6 months or so, my hair has been quite dry and just very lacklustre. I love finding new products to help nourish my lifeless locks and I've recently discovered a new shampoo and conditioner from Grow Gorgeous which have completely transformed hair!
grow gorgeous rescue & repair range blog post
I've tried quite a few offerings from Grow Gorgeous now and all have been beaut! They offer luxurious hair care that doesn't break the bank and are available in Boots so you don't have to go hunting far and wide to try them. To give you a little background, I have very fine, straight hair but I have a lot of it. It gets greasy after just two days and it hates anything too heavy - especially on the scalp! The new Rescue & Repair Shampoo & Conditioner Duo* provides the perfect balance between cleansing and hydrating which is everything I look for in a hair care range.

The shampoo is definitely my favourite half of the duo. It has a beautiful light texture that spreads evenly throughout the hair meaning you don't end up wasting a load of product. It's formulated with a cocktail of amazing ingredients including Amino Acids, Sea Satin, and Bamboo Extract which help gently purify the hair while Vitamins B, E and Cupuassu Butter leave the hair beautifully nourished and healthy. Another thing I love about this shampoo is that it's sulphate free so it doesn't irritate my scalp or neck but still manages to properly clean my roots. Bonus!

I love a good conditioner, especially when it's as moisturising and light-weight as this bad boy! My hair used to feel really dry and coarse from heat damage but this has done an amazing job of repairing and nourishing any dryness and leaves my hair feeling beautifully soft and silky! It has the same gorgeous ingredients as the shampoo but also contains Keratrix which works to improve elasticity in weekend tresses. Both products have the classic GG scent which I personally love - it reminds me of something they would use in a salon, so lush! If your hair is in need of some extra attention and love I would highly recommend giving this range a go!

Have you tried the new Grow Gorgeous range? What are your thoughts?

I'm definitely a sucker for affordable makeup. Don't get me wrong, I love browsing the Selfridges beauty hall as much as the next blogger but there's something about walking through the doors of Boots and Superdrug that just feels like home. Ja feel? Over the past year or so I've discovered quite a few drugstore gems and even dupes for some of my high-end favourites so today I want to talk you through five of the best makeup brands that are just a lunch break away.
five high-street makeup brands i swear by blog post
NYX Cosmetics | I have quite a soft spot for NYX. It's one of the first American brands I ever tried well over 6/7 years ago now. One of the main reasons I love their products is because they offer amazing formulas and pigmentation while still being super affordable. They also have a good few dupes throughout their range which is great for guys and girls starting out in makeup who don't have the biggest budget. I love pretty much everything I've tried from them but the Full Throttle Eyeshadow Quad in Colour Riot and Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm are two of my absolute faves!

L'Oreal | I don't think there's a makeup wearer alive who hasn't tried or at least heard of L'Oreal. They offer one of the most inclusive shade ranges for foundations on the high-street and have an amazing range of beautiful formulations and finishes for all skin types. One product that is a complete must-have from them is the True Match Foundation. I also really love their mascaras for instant volume and definition!

Primark Beauty | I'm not the biggest Primark clothing fan but their beauty section always lures me in. I haven't tried a shed load from them as most of their collections don't really appeal to me but the P.S Primer Water is something I cannot live without! It literally costs £2 and is the best setting/fixing mist I have ever used! Accidentally applied too much powder? Use this. Need to refresh your makeup? Use this. I can't recommend it enough!

KIKO Cosmetics | I haven't shopped in KIKO for a little while now but whenever I do I always find something new in there. I really rate the fact they cover everything from makeup to skincare and even beauty tools. They've just brought out a new range of brushes which feel so soft, I'm tempted to pick one up! If eye-makeup is your thing I would highly recommend their Cream Crush Eyeshadows and Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliners - they're so creamy and pigmented!

Makeup Revolution | This is actually the brand that inspired me to write this post. Everyone and their dad raved about the Conceal & Define Concealer when it first launched and for good reason and since then I've fallen more and more in love with their products. It's no secret that I love a good glow and their Liquid Highlighter in Liquid Starlight gives the most beautiful sheen to the cheekbones. I've also been loving the Lace Baking Powder as it keeps my foundation in place all day long. They have so many amazing products and for the price point, you seriously can't go wrong!

I'm always telling you guys about my skin and how temperamental it is but recently it's bumped up to a whole new level. Having combination skin means not only do you have to worry about blemishes and oil control but you also need to hydrate and nourish the drier dry areas too - you basically can't win! I also have fairly dehydrated skin so I have a lot of issues to treat and it can be hard to find the right balance but I think I've finally managed to create my perfect skincare routine and today I'm going to talk you through how I prep my skin in the mornings.
The Perfect Morning Routine For Combination Skin Blog Post
I start by cleansing and I've recently repurchased the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel which is a long-time favourite of mine. It leaves the skin incredibly clean and smooth but not stripped. It's formulated with Pumpkin Enzymes and Vitamin A, C & E to help gently exfoliate and nourish the skin. Then I chemically exfoliate using the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water* which is great for gently sloughing away dead skin and giving a gorgeous healthy glow. To kick-start the hydration process I've been loving the Murad Resurgence Hydrating Toner which is a life saver for those with dehydrated skin! My eyes are really puffy in the morning so I use the Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Gel paired with my Yu Ling Jade Facial Roller as together they soothe, reduce puffiness and help lift my whole eye area!

Serums are where I usually change things up the most but recently I've gone back to my trusty Indeed Laboratories Hydration Booster* which sadly is coming to an end but is definitely one to check out if you want to really up your hydration game! I've also switched to the Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Jelly* for my daytime moisturiser as it gives me a lovely plump base for makeup but doesn't feel greasy or take ages to absorb. Finally, for sun protection, I've been opting for the new La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo SPF 30 which is a lovely light formula that blends perfectly into the skin, doesn't feel heavy and sits beautifully under makeup!
