Blinding people with your highlight has become the goal of 2016. There's no place for subtlety anymore and with this trend comes hundreds of products dedicated to making you beam. The Sleek Solstice palette has become one of the most talked about products in the blogger sphere and I can see why. It offers intense shine at a low price. Perfect for everyone. I finally got my hands on it last week and I'm dying to share my thoughts and swatches with you. I hope you enjoy!
The packaging is a gorgeous gold compact about the size of my hand. There is also a mirror inside. Ok for travel.
Price - £9.99 for 9g
Texture - Mixed cream/powder
Finish - Intense shine

What they say
Sleek MakeUP’s Solstice Highlighting Palette instantly enhances the complexion with a radiant glow.

Key claims
Radiant glow
Suits all skin tones
Two baked powders
One luxurious cream
One silky shimmer powder
Highly pigmented metallic finishes
Luminous sheen to skin

What is it
This is a gorgeous palette containing all the shades you need to highlight your face. All four shades have very intense colour pay off with a highly metallic finish. Can be used on the eyes and skin. The formula's are very soft with no chunky glitter or shimmer. Suitable for all skin types

Shades left to right
- Ecliptic - Cream
- Hemisphere - Baked powder
- Subsolar - Shimmer powder
- Equinox - Baked powder

How to use it
You can apply any of the shades to the inner corner of the eye/brow bone to highlight, or use as eyeshadows with a flat brush. They will primarily be great as highlighters on the cheekbones for when you want an intense look. They all have a creamy, soft texture that applies beautifully to the skin. There is no scent to the product. They also have good staying power. I'm not sure how the shades will work on deep skin tones so you may have to give them a swatch in store before you buy.

Pros
- Affordable
- Mix of champagne, yellow and pink shades
- Cream and powder
 - Good soft texture
- Lovely gold packaging
- Travel friendly
- Great pigmentation

Cons
- Contains talc (I know that is an issue for some people)

Summary
This is a fantastic palette that everyone and their mom needs to own. If you're boarding the 'highlighter train', pick this up along the way. There's not much more to say besides it's stunning and is definitely worth the hype.

Estée Lauder is quickly becoming one of my all time favourite brands. I love their concept, products and high standards. I know a lot of people think they're products are geared more towards mature customers but they actually have some really fun items suitable for everyone. They've even launched a collection with Kendall Jenner called 'The Estée Edit'. I haven't tried any of the bits from this range yet but don't worry, it's on my to-do list. I picked up the Double Wear Light foundation a while ago and and it's become my go-to Summer base. Of course the original Double Wear is much more popular but a lot of people find it heavy or clogging. Hopefully today's review helps you decide wether Double Wear Light would be good for you. I hope you enjoy.
The foundation comes in a squeezy tube with a twist off cap. Great for travel.
Price - £31 for 30ml
Shade - 0.5
Texture - Liquid
Finish - Glowing, medium coverage

What they say
Double wear light stay in place make up offers sheer to medium coverage with a natural finish. Up to 15 hours wear and SPF10 protection. Double wear is fresh, natural and comfortable. Goes on sheer, leaves skin free to breathe all day Controls oil, resists smudging and wont melt off through heat and humidity.

Key claims
Buildable coverage
Up to 15 hours wear time
SPF 10
Comfortable finish
Oil free
Fragrance free

What is it
This is a beautiful liquid foundation that offers a buildable medium coverage with a radiant finish. The texture applies nicely to the skin without highlighting dryness or blemishes. It makes the skin look polished but still fresh at the same time. Suitable for all skin types.

How I use it
I apply the product to the skin and then start to buff it in with a buffing brush. It also applies nicely with fingers or sponges. Once the first layer is on I see if I need more coverage and apply more if necessary. This foundation looks lovely on the skin and I always feel like my skin looks glowing and natural. I did notice that it catches the little hairs on my face (around brows etc) but blended in well, it's not noticeable. It lasts pretty much all day on me, I typically wear makeup for a maximum of 7-8 hours. My natural oils do tend to show through towards the end of the day but I love that because it melts everything into the skin a bit better. There's no fragrance to the foundation which is great. The packaging is super convenient and travel friendly. I love that there's SPF protection as well.

Pros
- Good shade range
- Non heavy texture
- Doesn't exaggerate blemishes or texture
- Blends nicely with any tool
- No scent
- Oil free
- Travel friendly
- SPF 10
- Good for all skin types

Cons
- Expensive

Summary
I'm really impressed with this foundation. I find it to be the perfect balance of good coverage with a light texture. It will work for pretty much everyone. If you have acne you can always use concealer for specific areas but use the foundation for an overall lighter finish. I'd highly recommend checking this out at a counter near you.

Everyone will know by now that I love me some glow. I was sporting the glow years ago when everybody else was caking on the powder. There's so many products available now for getting them glossy cheekbones. From palettes to foundations, almost every brand is bringing out something to make you glow. I had seen this liquid illuminator in a few YouTube videos and knew I had to try it out for myself. I picked up the lightest shade which is called Sunbeam and I'm obsessed with it! I know a lot of you are glow-addicts too, so I thought I'd do a little review with some swatches so you can see it in all it's glory. I hope you enjoy!

The illuminator comes in a plastic squeezy tube with a twist off cap. Great for travel.
Price - £7 for 18ml
Texture - Thin cream
Finish - Glowing, radiant skin

What they say
Capture that sexy glow with out lightweight multi-functional illuminator.

Key claims
Lightweight
Refreshed highlight
Liquid texture
Multi-functional
Can be used as primer or highlighter

What is it
This is a beautiful liquid highlighter that gives amazing glow and luminosity. It's light texture blends easily into the skin with either fingers or a brush/sponge. Suitable for all skin types.

How I use it
I apply a pea sized amount to my cheekbones, nose bridge and cupids bow before foundation. As you can see from the swatch, it's very pigmented but that's great because you can sheer it out if you want to. A little goes a long way. It really gives you an intense radiant finish that you'd normally only get from layering a lot of powder highlighter. It comes in 4 shades so there's something for everybody. They are all either pink or peach based. I love the packaging, it's so convenient for travelling. The texture is really nice to apply but it sets very quickly so it's probably best to work in sections. This is the lightest shade which is very pink based.

Pros
- Comes in 4 shades
- Affordable
- Nice texture
- Sits nicely on skin
- Good packaging
- Intensely pigmented
- Can be sheered out

Cons
- Dries quickly

Summary
I adore this product! It's exactly what I've been looking for in a liquid highlighter. It ticks all the boxes for me and I'd highly recommend you try it out! On your marks, get set, glow!

I'm a big Summer person. I love the warm weather, sunshine and ability to go out without having to bring a coat! The beautiful Sal of @ummbaby tagged me to do this quick but fun tag, so thats what I'm doing today. If you'd like to see Sal's post the link is here
Her post was so fun to read and I'd highly recommend you check it out!

Favourite Perfume
My current scent of choice has to be the Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne. It has just the right amount of fruity and fresh notes which almost make me smell like appletizer or champagne. I tend to like sweet scents but this is a nice option for switching it up.

Favourite Lip Colour
This is a tougie. If I had to pick just one it would be YSL Rouge Volute Lipstick in Nude Beige. It's a gorgeous nude pink with a slight mauve hint, perfect for everyday. It works well as a nude on me because it doesn't wash me out or make my lips look smaller. Such a luxurious touch for Summer.

Favourite Drink
I'm one of the thousands of people going crazy for the Starbucks Peach Green Tea Lemonade... but, I order mine with black tea instead! It gives it more flavour and makes it much more refreshing. Next time you go to Starbucks and order one, ask for black tea. I seriously can't get enough.

Favourite Blush
I'm obsessed with the Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop. Firstly it just looks gorgeous with the flower embedded in the product. The colour is the perfect 'your cheek but better'. It's a mix of pink and mauve and it's so flattering on the skin.

Favourite Clothing Item
It's got to be my new denim jacket. Denim jackets are back with a bang in the U.K so I decided to find one thats works for me. I found mine at New Look for.. £7 in the sale! It's a good colour, perfect length and super comfortable. If you've been interested in getting one, I'd highly recommend looking in New Look.

Favourite Movie
The movie I've been loving recently is Bridesmaids. At first I was a bit skeptical about it because it was so popular but I really like it now. It's not your typical 'girly' film, it's quite rude but I love that! If you haven't seen it yet, give it a go.

Favourite Show
My all time favourite show is The Big Bang Theory. Summer or Winter, I can't resist it. I love the characters, the plot and it's humour. Anytime it's on E4 I race to put it on and I'm pretty sure I've seen every episode...

Favourite Food
I think a good old BBQ is the perfect Summer meal but we're not talking a burger and a sausage,  I mean hardcore kebab. A nice skewer of lamb shish, pitta bread, hummus and cacik. Hubby and I are also obsessed with watermelon! I'm now drooling.

This tag has been so fun to do and I tag everyone to share their Summer loves!

I'd especially love to see these peeps do the tag!

I love using serums but it can be difficult to find ones that actually make a difference to the skin. Whilst mooching on Instagram I saw a lot of skincare posts that included this product from Superdrug. Even beauty journalist Sali Hughes raves about it! After testing it for a good month or so I decided it's time to share my thoughts with you.

The serum comes in a hand sized bottle with a pump. Great for travel.
Price - £2.69 for 50ml
Texture - Thin cream
Finish - Soft, hydrated, calm skin

What they say
Simply Pure Hydrating Serum is designed to replenish and nourish sensitive skin. Enriched with calming Soothex and a fortifying Ceramide Blend, this hydrating formula helps to improve skin’s natural elasticity and suppleness for a smoother, more radiant complexion.

Key ingredients
Lactic Acid - Gently exfoliates and helps reduce appearance of scars
Ceramide Blend - Nourishing and hydrating

What is it
This is a gentle basic serum that moisturises and softens the skin. The texture absorbs quickly. It has no scent which is great for sensitive skins. Suitable for all skin types.

How I use it
After toner I apply a 5p size amount to the face and neck. This is suitable for AM and PM use. It sits nicely under moisturiser/primer and the skin feels instantly softer. It helps relieve any dry patches I sometimes get but doesn't leave me feeling greasy at the same time. A little goes a long way with this so I won't be running out any time soon.

Pros
- Affordable
- Fragrance free
- Travel friendly
- Nice texture
- Non greasy
- Great for all skin types
- No alcohol
- Hypoallergenic

Cons
- None

Summary
You need this in your life. Wether you're 14 or 44, male, female it doesn't matter, everyone should have this in their skincare routine. At £2.69 you can't fault it! If your skin needs an extra layer of moisture, give this serum a go. You won't regret it.

I recently saw the one and only Caroline H talking about Simple's new cleansing oil and was immediately interested. I'm not a huge cleansing oil fan as I typically prefer a gel or balm but I thought I'd give this one a go. It's hard to find a drugstore cleansing oil that doesn't contain mineral oil so I'm very impressed with this one. I hope you enjoy.
The product comes in a slim plastic bottle with a flip cap. Not great for travel.
Price - £6.99 for 125ml
Texture - Thin oil
Finish - Clean, soft skin

What they say
Our new cleanser with pure grapeseed oil and Vitamins A & E removes make-up and dissolves impurities while instantly hydrating your skin leaving it feeling soft and smooth. No greasy residue. For Daily use.

Key ingredients
Grapeseed Oil - Contains anti-oxidants and moisturises the skin
Vitamin A - Exfoliates and repairs the cellular structure of the epidermis
Vitamin E - Rich in anti-oxidants and protects against free radicals

What is it
This is a beautiful cleansing oil that removes makeup and cleanses the skin without leaving it stripped. The texture is very thin and light but it works well at breaking down makeup or just simply cleansing the daily grime accumulated on the skin. It has no scent which is great for sensitive skins. Suitable for all skin types.

How I use it
I drop 4-5 drops into my palms and massage it thoroughly into the skin and down the neck. It's great for both makeup removal and 'skin' cleansing which means you can use it in the morning and evening. I use a flannel to remove it but you can emulsify with water with no oily residue left. My skin feels lovely and soft afterwards and looks clear and refreshed.

Pros
- Affordable
- Nice texture
- Doesn't leave residue
- Removes makeup
Emulsifies
- Good amount of product
- No scent
- Great for all skin types

Cons
- Packaging not great for travel

Summary
I adore this cleansing oil. It just works so well at getting the job done but still keeps the skin nourished and hydrated. I don't like to remove my makeup with an oil just because I don't like swishing the makeup around but with this it's so easy. If you're looking for a budget cleansing oil, look no further. This will be your new bff!

I've been using S&G for years now. I first fell in love with The Righteous Butter when I was 11 and since then I've been head over heels for their products. I was clearing out my stash yesterday and thought it would be fun to share with you my five favourite bits including both body care and makeup. I hope you enjoy.

Clean On Me Shower Jelly - Original Pink
I was very excited about this launch and I'm pretty sure every other beauty blogger was too. It's a fun twist on the regular Clean On Me shower gel, as this is a jelly texture. The jelly is thick and wobbly but lathers up so well on the skin. It's a much better value for money too at just £5.50 for 250ml! Hubby and I share it so we've already gone through 3 bottles... Yes I know, we have a problem.

Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub
I love a good old body scrub. I've dealt with keratosis pilaris 'chicken skin' for as long as I can remember and it's extremely frustrating. The condition leaves my arms rough, dry, bumpy, and a horrible bruised colour. The only way to help fix the appearance is by exfoliating. This scrub works wonders on my limbs. The particles are fine and not scratchy, it's a good thick texture that softens nicely with water and it also smells like the best bowl of porridge you've ever had. It leaves me smelling sweet and feeling super smooth. It's also great for dry legs!

Kick Ass Concealer - Light
This product has been in my collection for years now and I still love it. It was one of the first drugstore concealer/corrector kits on the market that actually worked. It comes with a yellow toned concealer that works well at covering blemishes/redness, and on the other side there's a peach corrector for under eyes. Both have a creamy texture that blends well and stays all day. There's even a small blotting powder for touching up throughout the day.

Sexy Mother Pucker Lipstick - Barely Pinking - Shine
These lipsticks are fairly new but they're one of the best launches of the year so far! This is a pink/brown/peach nude shade which is perfect for light/medium skin tones. Being a shine finish, it's more on the sheer side but is definitely buildable. It's my go to for my daily makeup when I want something to give my bare lips some oomph. If you try anything out of these products, try one of these lipsticks!

One Heck Of A Blot Powder Super Translucent Mattifying Powder
Most of you will know I love looking dewy and glowy and to achieve that look, I normally steer clear of powders. I noticed that I still needed something to set my t-zone because I do get shiny throughout the day. I purchased this a month or so ago and have used it every single time I've done my makeup. A little goes a long way so you don't want to be heavy handed but it just helps my foundation last that little bit longer.

My Top 5 Soap and Glory Picks

I've got a few products from Ren which I really enjoy so I decided it was time to try some new bits from them. I went to my local M&S and found this adorable travel size of the Rose Centifolia Cleansing Gel. After loving the cleansing balm, I picked this up hoping it would be a nice lighter version for my morning cleansing.  I've been using it almost everyday since. Yep, it's that good. I think a lot of you will like this cleanser because it's very light but still very effective. I hope you enjoy the review!

The cleanser comes in a plastic bottle with a pump. Great for travel.
Price - £6 for 50ml - £14 for 150ml
Texture - Thin gel
Finish - Clean, soft, hydrated skin

What they say
A rose infused facial cleansing gel that will leave your skin thoroughly cleansed, refreshed and soothed. Perfect for hand luggage when travelling.

Key ingredients
Rosa Centifolia Flower Juice - Tones and firms
Rose Otto Oil - Antiseptic
Aloe Vera - Soothing and moisturising

What is it
This is a gorgeous refreshing gel that quickly cleanses the skin, leaving it soft, purified and balanced. It has a very light texture that turns into a light milk. It swiftly removes dirt, grime and congestion. The rose scent is very relaxing whilst massaging the product into the skin. Suitable for all skin types.

How I use it
I massage a 10p size amount into the skin concentrating on the nose and forehead. This doesn't remove my makeup well but it works perfectly as a morning or second cleanse. You can use it AM/PM. As you work it around the texture changes from a gel to a light milk. I remove it with a flannel but it does wash away easily with water. My skin feels so soft and hydrated afterwards. Those who like foaming cleansers because of the 'squeaky clean' feeling will appreciate this product because it definitely cleans, but does not strip the skin at all!

Pros
- Affordable
- Nice packaging
- Travel friendly
- Light texture
- Suitable for all skin types
- No alcohol
- Easily removed
- Skin is clean and hydrated
- Light rose scent

Cons
- None

Summary
This is my new go-to cleanser. It just works so well and getting the job done. If you're not fussy about skincare or are looking for something lighter for Summer instead of the 'oil packed' balms, check this one out!

I was strolling through Boots yesterday and decided to check out the skincare aisles in case there was something new to try. After mooching for 15 minutes I was about to walk away when I turned around and saw these brand new face masks from L'Oreal. I almost jumped out of my skin and when I saw the £5 sign I chucked them in my basket with such speed, hubby got a bit scared...
I'm so excited about these masks especially since they're so new, I hadn't even heard anyone talk about them being launched! I hope you enjoy this first impressions/review.

There are 3 masks in the Pure Clay range -
Purity
Detox
Glow

Detox

The mask come in a heavy glass jar. Not great for travel.
Price - £7.99 for 50ml (currently £5 in Boots)
Texture - Very thick, opaque gel/cream
Finish - Clear, purified skin

What they say
The creamy texture of this deep cleansing face mask detoxifies the skin’s surface and works deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautified.

Key ingredients
Kaolin - Absorbs excess sebum
Montmorillonite - Rich in minerals and helps eliminates imperfections
Ghassoul - Clarifies
Charcoal - Draws out impurities

What is it
This is a super thick, heavy-duty charcoal mask that clears out pores and helps skin look clarified. It spreads really evenly and smoothly over the face making it very quick to apply. It does smell quite heavily of charcoal, personally, I don't love it, but it's not unusable. Suitable for all skin types.

The application
The mask applied very opaque and smoothly so there was no patchiness which I liked. The smell was noticeable but not to the point where I had to remove the mask. It starts to dry quite quickly and I couldn't make any expressions. Once it was fully set, I removed it with warm water and a flannel. I did notice my pores looked clearer and more refined and best of all my skin isn't dry or tight!

Pros
- Affordable
- Nice texture
- Works after one use
- Clears and purifies skin
- Good amount of product

Cons
- Strong smell
- Not very easy to remove

Glow

The mask comes in the same heavy glass jar. Not good for travel.
Price - £7.99 for 50ml (currently £5 in Boots)
Texture - Gritty paste
Finish - Smooth, bright skin

What they say
It has a beaded, creamy texture which illuminates tone by exfoliating your skin without drying it out.

Key ingredients
Kaolin - Absorbs excess sebum
Montmorillonite - Rich in minerals and helps eliminates imperfections
Ghassoul - Clarifies
Red Algae - Brightens the skin
Finely Milled Apricot Seeds - Exfoliates and smooths

What is it
This is a nice exfoliating mask which gently brightens and resurfaces the skin whilst leaving it soft and clear. It applies smoothly and evenly. It has a fresh/clay scent which is nice. Suitable for all skin types except sensitive.

The application
The mask applied really nicely to the skin and didn't go patchy. It started to dry after a few minutes but does not get as 'tight' or restrictive as the Detox mask. It has a nice fresh scent. After 15 minutes I added some water to the mask and gently used it to exfoliate my skin, and then properly removed it with a flannel. The particles are nice and fine. My skin looks brighter and feels super smooth.

Pros
- Affordable
- Good gritty texture
- Gently exfoliates
- Fresh scent
- Spreads evenly
- Easy to remove

Cons
- Not great for sensitive skins

Summary
After trying the masks out for the first time I have to say, I'm really impressed. They work really well at getting the job done and for the price, I don't think you can get much better. If you've been looking for a charcoal or exfoliating mask I would definitely recommend you check these out next time you're in Boots!
