I was strolling through Boots yesterday and decided to check out the skincare aisles in case there was something new to try. After mooching for 15 minutes I was about to walk away when I turned around and saw these brand new face masks from L'Oreal. I almost jumped out of my skin and when I saw the £5 sign I chucked them in my basket with such speed, hubby got a bit scared...
I'm so excited about these masks especially since they're so new, I hadn't even heard anyone talk about them being launched! I hope you enjoy this first impressions/review.

There are 3 masks in the Pure Clay range -
Purity
Detox
Glow

Detox

The mask come in a heavy glass jar. Not great for travel.
Price - £7.99 for 50ml (currently £5 in Boots)
Texture - Very thick, opaque gel/cream
Finish - Clear, purified skin

What they say
The creamy texture of this deep cleansing face mask detoxifies the skin’s surface and works deep into the pores, leaving the skin looking clarified and beautified.

Key ingredients
Kaolin - Absorbs excess sebum
Montmorillonite - Rich in minerals and helps eliminates imperfections
Ghassoul - Clarifies
Charcoal - Draws out impurities

What is it
This is a super thick, heavy-duty charcoal mask that clears out pores and helps skin look clarified. It spreads really evenly and smoothly over the face making it very quick to apply. It does smell quite heavily of charcoal, personally, I don't love it, but it's not unusable. Suitable for all skin types.

The application
The mask applied very opaque and smoothly so there was no patchiness which I liked. The smell was noticeable but not to the point where I had to remove the mask. It starts to dry quite quickly and I couldn't make any expressions. Once it was fully set, I removed it with warm water and a flannel. I did notice my pores looked clearer and more refined and best of all my skin isn't dry or tight!

Pros
- Affordable
- Nice texture
- Works after one use
- Clears and purifies skin
- Good amount of product

Cons
- Strong smell
- Not very easy to remove

Glow

The mask comes in the same heavy glass jar. Not good for travel.
Price - £7.99 for 50ml (currently £5 in Boots)
Texture - Gritty paste
Finish - Smooth, bright skin

What they say
It has a beaded, creamy texture which illuminates tone by exfoliating your skin without drying it out.

Key ingredients
Kaolin - Absorbs excess sebum
Montmorillonite - Rich in minerals and helps eliminates imperfections
Ghassoul - Clarifies
Red Algae - Brightens the skin
Finely Milled Apricot Seeds - Exfoliates and smooths

What is it
This is a nice exfoliating mask which gently brightens and resurfaces the skin whilst leaving it soft and clear. It applies smoothly and evenly. It has a fresh/clay scent which is nice. Suitable for all skin types except sensitive.

The application
The mask applied really nicely to the skin and didn't go patchy. It started to dry after a few minutes but does not get as 'tight' or restrictive as the Detox mask. It has a nice fresh scent. After 15 minutes I added some water to the mask and gently used it to exfoliate my skin, and then properly removed it with a flannel. The particles are nice and fine. My skin looks brighter and feels super smooth.

Pros
- Affordable
- Good gritty texture
- Gently exfoliates
- Fresh scent
- Spreads evenly
- Easy to remove

Cons
- Not great for sensitive skins

Summary
After trying the masks out for the first time I have to say, I'm really impressed. They work really well at getting the job done and for the price, I don't think you can get much better. If you've been looking for a charcoal or exfoliating mask I would definitely recommend you check these out next time you're in Boots!

Thank you so much for reading!
