I'm a big fan of The Body Shop and when I saw Caroline Hirons raving about their new 'extremely lightweight' SPF, I got very excited. After reading her review I decided to purchase it because I thought it would be a good product to have in my stash. I've really enjoyed using it and I think it definitely represents a 'new' kind of SPF that's not greasy or clogging. I hope you enjoy.

The moisturiser/SPF comes in a slim plastic tube with a twist off cap. Good for travel.
Price - £16 for 40ml
Texture - Thin cream
Finish - Hydrated, soft, protected skin

What they say
From the effects of the sun to the environment we live in - we’re constantly facing daily aggressors that can damage our skin. Introducing NEW Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence SPF 50 PA++++, our strongest multi-protection to help protect your skin day after day.

Key ingredients
Red Algae Extract - Brightens the skin
Vitamin C - Protects against damage from free radicals

What is it
This is a moisturiser/sun cream hybrid that offers high protection from sun damage whilst keeping the skin hydrated and moisturised. The milk-to-water texture is very lightweight and easily absorbed into the skin. There is no 'white cast' when applied. The scent is quite fresh borderline alcohol so it's all about personal taste, I personally like it. It does contain a high amount of Alcohol Denat which can be drying/irritating so sensitive skins should be wary. Suitable for most skin types.

How I use it
After/instead of moisturiser, I apply a generous layer all over my face and neck. It does slightly brighten the skin but there is no real visible effect so it's more of a 'slap it on then go' kind of product. Makeup applies really smoothly afterwards as the SPF is very softening to the skin. I love using this daily because it's so quick and low maintenance and it's especially great for those who exercise outside or people in a rush.
I always double cleanse in the evening after using SPF!

Pros
- UVA/UVB protection
- Easily available
- Light texture
- Mid priced
- Clean smell
- Travel friendly
- High protection
- Good under makeup

Cons
- High alcohol denat content

Summary
I absolutely love this SPF and I know I'll use it up quickly. It's a great affordable option for everyone and I think 9/10 people would get on with it. I highly recommend going in store to test it out!

Thank you for reading!
