Even though London can't make up it's mind on whether it wants to be hot or cold, Autumn has officially started which means it's time to embrace rich smokey eyes, stronger contour and dark lips. I'm not one to change my whole makeup routine just because of the season change as I tend to do what ever makeup I feel like on that day, but this year I'm going to experiment a bit more. For instance, 98% of my lipstick collection consists of nudes, slightly bright peachy shades and maybe one or two reds. This will soon be changing as I plan to stock up on some gorgeous darker toned lip products since it's the easiest and quickest way to transition your makeup from 'glowing goddess' to 'vampy vixen'. I hope you find these steps interesting/inspiring and let me know how and if you're going to switch up your look for Autumn.
Base
Before you change your primers/foundations etc, you need to check if your skin has any new concerns as you may need more hydration  and moisture and less clarifying/spot fighting skincare products. Typically most people need a richer moisturiser when Autumn and Winter come around and the Clinique HydraQuench Cream is great for adding that extra boost of hydration. The main base product I would recommend changing is your foundation. Highlighter and blusher is an optional and personal step which I always like to include but I will be changing my normal foundation to something with a higher coverage and a matte finish. The new Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Debenhams here I come!

Eyes
I like to use warm toned eyeshadows pretty much all year round but in Autumn I tend to stop using creams and switch to powders. A good old matte smokey eye with reds, oranges and rich chocolate shades just makes my heart sing, especially when paired with lots of mascara and sculpted brows. This is when I bring out my Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette because it has everything you could want in a warm toned eyeshadow palette. Sometimes I'll also use my Makeup Geek Eyeshadows in Creme Brûlée, Latte and Cocoa Bear which are great for travelling. I like to add quite a bit of mascara to contrast well against all the eyeshadow and for my brows I'll use something heavier like a pomade. The Freedom Brow Pomade - Medium Brown is amazing and affordable!

Lips
The main thing I notice everyone trying to achieve is those perfect sculpted, deep berry - almost black lips. Whilst this is a gorgeous look for the runway it's not something I'd wear on a daily basis. Since 2016 was the year of liquid lipstick, this is the best time to start wearing those super matte brown, 90s-esque lip colours. My favourite is the NYX Lip Lingerie - Bedroom Flirt which sets to a mauve-y brown colour. In fact, the Lip Lingerie range in general has a lot of fab Autumn colours for all skin tones!

These are just a few helpful tips I thought I'd share with you and by no means do you have to do all of these steps to look fall appropriate.
I really hope you enjoyed the post and don't forget to tell me what your go-to Autumn makeup items are!

Thank you for reading!
