So you may have seen on my Instagram that I recently attended the launch event for Olay's newest addition to their Total Effects range and as well as being one of the best events I've ever been to, the actual product itself has quickly become my latest beauty obsession and now that the Summer heat is well and truly underway I thought I would tell you a bit more about the product and why I think everyone needs a bottle in their routine!
olay total effects age defying moisturiser spf 30 blog post
We all know that sun protection is incredibly important for maintaining a healthy skin, particularly in the Summer months but it can often be a challenge to find a good SPF that ticks all the boxes. The new Total Effects Age-Defying Moisturiser SPF 30* has the same anti-ageing and radiance boosting properties as the original but now offers a higher level of UVA/UVB protection that still feels lightweight on the skin. It's formulated with Niacinamide to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores and strengthen the skin's barrier, Vitamin E which helps restore moisture and Green Tea Extract to protect against free radical damage.

As well as protecting from the sun this moisturiser helps smooth over fine lines and wrinkles, blurs imperfections and evens out the skin tone almost like a primer. I love wearing this alone or under makeup as it makes a lovely smooth base and gives a beautiful glowy finish that makes you look super healthy and hydrated. It's quite a rich moisturiser but it absorbs really quickly and keeps your skin thoroughly hydrated and protected throughout the day. I've been using this every morning for nearly two weeks and I haven't had any breakouts so if you struggle to find a good SPF that doesn't clog your pores this is definitely one to consider! I also love that it comes in a bottle with a pump as it makes it perfect for travel! I was using the SPF 15 version before the event and I absolutely loved it but I think this might be even better! If you're looking for a new Summer moisturiser with SPF I would highly recommend giving this a go!

I was so excited when I saw that Charlotte was releasing a new makeup collection. The products are inspired by Instagram Filters and focus on emphasizing and highlighting your natural beauty. There are a quite a few items in the range including; two eye palettes, a mascara, cheek duos, cream eyeshadows, a plumping lip gloss and a primer/highlighter - you know the one! Some of the products are limited edition and some are permanent. After seeing so many people talk about this range I decided to order a few things and today I thought I would show you what I got!
charlotte tilbury beauty filters collection blog post
Hollywood Flawless Filter | Fair
This is probably the most talked about makeup product of the year so far. It's a 3 in 1 complexion booster that promises starlit skin in seconds. It's quite a versatile product that can be applied before foundation to add radiance and blur imperfections, used as a highlighter for a super concentrated glow or even mixed in with your base for a fresh, dewy finish. Everything in the range is packaged beautifully and this product is no exception. It's a gorgeous glass bottle with a rose gold twist off lid. You'd probably expect it to have a pump but it actually comes with a doe-foot applicator which makes it really easy to place the product in certain areas and not go overboard. I haven't used it on my face yet but I have swatched it on my hand and the texture is beautiful! I can't wait to try it!

I don't tend to buy mascaras very often but I've heard so many people rave about the original Legendary Lashes so I decided to pick up her new reformulated version which is supposed to be smudge-proof, humidity resistant and increase volume by 500% in just one application! The packaging is really slim and lightweight and the wand has natural bristles which I actually prefer to plastic as I find it coats the lashes better. Again I haven't tried this out yet as I've hardly worn makeup these past couple weeks but everyone seems to love it so I'll let you know how I get on!

Bigger Brighter Eyes | Exagger-Eyes Palette
I've never owned a Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad before but as soon as I saw this little number I knew that was going to change. It's a pretty small compact which is good for travel and you also get a mirror which is handy. This is the slightly more neutral palette which you'd think I wouldn't like as normally gravitate towards warmer shades but this is unlike anything else I own. As with all of Charlotte's palettes you get four shades; Prime, Enlarge, Define and Pop which you can use to create a natural, everyday look or something slightly more intense. I can see this palette being perfect for brides who want something soft that still has definition and a hint of sparkle. This is such a beautiful palette and I know I'm going to get a ton of wear out of it! I think I may pop into my local counter and get Transform-Eyes palette too - it would be rude not to, right?

Spring is definitely my favourite time of year for makeup. There's always a ton of new beauty launches and most of the products tend to be very glowy and radiance-boosting which I love. I feel like my makeup routine never really changes but that's because I know what I like and usually stick to the same products for quite a few months. I'm super happy with my current routine and I wanted to share it as I know you all love a good glow just as much as I do!
super glowy spring makeup edit blog post
Starting with the base, I've really been enjoying mixing a pump of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter in with my foundation as it gives a beautiful glowy finish without being greasy or emphasizing my pores. Nine times out of ten I will use the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream but I've also been loving the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation as it's super light and gives a gorgeous sheen to the skin. The L'Oreal True Match Concealer has been my go-to as it's super hydrating but offers a good medium-full coverage and I like to set it with the Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo. I've also rediscovered the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk which is the perfect everyday blush shade and I love adding a touch of TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer to my cheekbones for an intense highlight.

I've been going slightly heavier with my eye makeup recently but it couldn't be simpler to achieve. I start by applying my MAC Eyeshadow in Saddle all over the lid, blending it right up to the brow bone so that it's really blown out and I also apply it to my lower lashline to add a bit of definition. The main element that's changed is I've started using a bit of brown eyeliner to line my waterline and also to tight-line. MAC Teddy is my fave for this as it has flecks of gold which looks really pretty when it catches the light.  For brows, I've been loving the Eylure X Fleur De Force Brow Definer in Medium because I can add shape and the illusion of hairs without it looking fake. It's also a great colour match and isn't super warm like most brow pencils! Then I curl my lashes and apply a couple coats of the L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara for super long, voluminous lashes.

You all know I'm pretty lazy when it comes to lips but I have been rotating quite a few lippies, all different shades and finishes. The Glossier Generation G in Cake is the perfect everyday peachy nude or I'll sometimes opt for my Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Pillow Talk if I want a bit more pigment and staying power. I'm also loving the Dior Lip Glow in 001 for a pink glossy finish.

Now that Summer is fast approaching I've been desperately trying to get my skin and body beach-ready (even though I have no immediate plans to visit a beach). I think every girl feels better when they can get their legs out or slap on a bit of tinted moisturiser without having to worry about dry skin or unsightly stubble. Even in super hot weather, I'm always the last person to wear a short dress or an open top but when I've spent a little more timing prepping myself I actually really enjoy it so today I thought I would share three simple steps to achieving beautiful, healthy skin!
three ways to prep skin for summer blog post
Give Yourself A Facial
My skin gets really congested in the warmer months so weekly facials are a must for me. I start by double cleansing to thoroughly remove makeup and SPF and then I like to use an exfoliating mask to slough away any dry, flaky skin. The Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask is my absolute fave for this! I'm also obsessed with using steam and this Panasonic Facial Steamer softens the skin which helps your serum and moisturiser penetrate better and also primes the skin for makeup which is great for any special occasions you may have coming up! I highly recommend trying one for yourself!

Faux Glow
Every now and then I like to use some sort of tanning product to make myself look and feel a bit healthier and I recently discovered the Isle Of Paradise Self Tanning Water* and Self Tanning Drops in Medium* - they're basically J-Lo skin in a bottle! The night before I want to fake tan I will exfoliate my entire body and shave my legs then I liberally apply the Self Tanning Water* starting from my feet working up to my neck, blending with a mitt as I go. The Self Tanning Drops* are great for matching your face to your body or just giving your skin a gorgeous hint of colour. I like to mix two drops with the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream and apply it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush for a flawless finish. If you're feeling extra fancy you can apply a rich body cream/oil to really emphasize the glow. I'm currently loving the Neutrogena Norweigan Formula Deep Moisture Body Lotion because it's super light, absorbs instantly and keeps me soft and hydrated throughout the day!

An At-Home Mani Pedi
I've mentioned before that I often wear acrylic nails as my natural ones are a bit shorter than I'd like but I still think that giving your hands and feet a bit of TLC and a fresh lick of paint is a great way to feel Summer ready. I always opt for nude shades but there's nothing like a pop of red against sunkissed skin. I also like to do a bit of maintenance by tidying up my cuticles, filing and reshaping my nails and exfoliating my feet. I also like to use the L'Occitaine Almond Hand Cream and Soap & Glory Heel Genius for a silky soft finish!

I mentioned in a previous post that I was recently invited along to an amazing event with MMCL London & American English Haircare where I got to hang out with some lovely bloggers, enjoy a glass of prosecco and learn more about the products from non-other than the brand founders themselves! Despite me being a qualified hairdresser (bet you didn't know that about me) I'm actually very lazy when it comes to my own hair so it was really nice to learn a few new tips and tricks that I can use at home to shake up my usual routine. I've already tried their Seaberry Dry Oil* and I absolutely loved it so I was super excited when they kindly gifted me a few other products to try out. I've had them for about two and a half weeks and I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty obsessed...
american english haircare review blog post
Smooth Repair Shampoo & Conditioner*
As much as I would love to go 4/5 days without washing my hair it's just not realistic as my roots get greasy after just a day or two so I've always got to have a decent shampoo and conditioner at the ready. I tend to be quite wary about trying new haircare as a lot of products can feel heavy and weigh my hair down but this duo is unlike any other I've tried. Formulated with Seaweed & Shea Butter these vitamin-enriched products eliminate frizz, add shine, soothe dry scalp and repair leaving the hair beautifully soft and smooth. They're also Sulfate-Free and Vegan which means you don't have to worry about your hair feeling stripped afterwards. The shampoo creates a luxurious foam which cleans the hair after just one use and the conditioner intensely nourishes and smoothes the hair without being heavy or leaving a greasy residue which I absolutely love! Another thing I love is the scent, I can't quite describe it but it's absolutely divine! My hair hasn't felt this healthy in a really long time and I definitely put it down to these two products. I need to get backups asap!

24Karat Thickening Lotion*
Michael Kanyon demonstrated how to use this lotion to create amazing volume whilst blow drying your hair and it reminded me so much of working in my college salon - happy days! It has a Water-Based formula which forms a light film on the hair (don't worry, you can't feel it) and provides the perfect foundation for every style. It also contains Styleze technology which provides humidity control, heat protection and curl retention. I use this everytime I wash my hair and I just work 1-2 pumps into the roots, mid-lengths and ends and then blow dry as normal. This gives my hair so much more volume and it lasts for a good couple of days which is quite surprising as my hair usually falls flat very quickly. It also helps prevent breakage and restore elasticity. If you love big, bouncy hair I would highly recommend checking this out!

Seaberry Dry Oil*
I already have a bottle of this and I use it literally every day. It's mainly to add shine but you can also use it as a style finisher and even as a heat protectant! It contains Seaberry, Avocado and Argan Oil to help protect against UV rays, stimulate growth and repair split ends. The dry oil texture means you can apply a fair bit without it looking greasy. I also love using this when I've let my hair dry naturally as it leaves my hair feeling beautifully soft, smoothes any frizz and emphasizes the natural wave in my hair.

Even though I've just done my April Favourites post I thought I would show you five things that are currently making me happy including the TV programme I can't stop watching and a perfume that is giving me serious Summer vibes! I've also got some new tech accessories and a cheeky discount code to share with you!
five things that are making me happy right now blog post
Acrylic Nails
I'll let you in on a little secret - when I was younger I used to bite my nails, A LOT. I know what you're all going to say but before you shudder in disgust you'll be pleased to hear that I kicked my addiction once I turned sixteen! My nails are now in pretty good shape although they are a lot shorter than I'd like but I've only got myself to blame for that. Every now and then I get bored of my natural nails so I recently had some acrylics put on and I can't believe what a difference they make, not just physically, but mentally too! I've just gone for a standard squoval shape in a cute nude pink shade and I love how girly they make me feel. I think I might try the almond shape next!

Getting My Daily Dose Of Vitamin D
This is a little thing but I've definitely noticed a difference in my mood ever since I started taking my HUM Pimp My Calcium* and Here Comes The Sun Supplements*. They're supposed to support the skin, mood, immune system and calcium absorption. I've been taking them for a couple of weeks but there were a few days when I forgot and I noticed my energy levels and happiness drop significantly! If you can't get your Vitamin D from the sun I would highly recommend looking into supplements!

The Great British Bake Off Being Added To Netflix
It's no secret that I love baking and Netflix so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that GBBO was coming to town! I usually just leave Friends or Pretty Little Liars playing on my iPad whilst I'm blogging but it's been really refreshing having something different on in the background. It's also given me a strong urge to keep baking which is great for my sweet tooth but not so much for my summer body! One more batch of cookies won't hurt, will it?

My Juicy Couture Perfume
Fragrance has always been a big mood influencer for me as I've gotten used to attaching certain smells to specific people, places, moments etc and now the slightest whiff can instantly take me back to a time of joy or sadness. The Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Perfume reminds me of fun, happy times with family and although it's something I want to save and cherish recently I find myself wearing it daily because it makes me so cheerful! It's a gorgeous sweet, fruity yet slightly floral scent and the bottle is just stunning! I can already tell it's going to be a Summer favourite!

Switching Up My Phone Case
I've had the same phone case for quite a while now and as much as it does the job I was starting to get a bit bored of the design so it was perfect timing when Caseapp reached out to me and asked if I wanted to collaborate and try a couple bits from them! They're a Swedish online brand that sells hundreds of affordable cases and skins for just about every smartphone, tablet and laptop you can think of! You can choose one of their designs or even customise your own case and use your own photos which I think is amazing! I decided to get this absolutely gorgeous Floral Pizaa Case* for my iPhone 7 Plus. It's such a cool design and the case itself is really sturdy and protects the phone really well! I also ordered the Marble With A Touch Of White Case* for my iPad MiniBlogger goals or what? I love the contrast of the marble and baby pink and the case is such good quality! I'm also super excited to tell you that Caseapp has kindly given me a discount code for you which you can use to get 20% off your order! How fab is that? Just enter MAIYABELLE20 at the checkout anytime from now until the 5th June 2018! I also have a giveaway coming soon on my Instagram so be sure to follow me and keep your eyes peeled! Happy shopping!

What's been putting you in a good mood recently?

This post is a collab with Caseapp. All opinions are my own.
After watching Caroline's brand overview video I decided to place a Murad order which actually worked out pretty good as I was able to use a discount code and received a full-sized product as a gift with purchase! Don't ya just love it when that happens? I've also had a couple bits from Indeed Laboratories land on my desk over the past few weeks so I thought it was about time I show you the latest additions to my skincare stash!
new in my skincare stash | murad & indeed labs
Murad Resurgence Hydrating Toner
I've needed a new facial mist for a quite a while so as soon as Caroline mentioned how hydrating this was and the fact that it smells like peach I knew I had to have it. It's a lovely lightweight toner which is perfect for adding hydration and refreshing the skin throughout the day. It's formulated with Cucumber and Chamomile to soothe and soften and there's also Witch Hazel to refine and tighten pores. I can't recommend this enough!

Murad Age Reform AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
I was so excited when this got added to my basket as it normally retails for £35 which is more than I usually spend on a cleanser. This uses a mix of Salicylic, Lactic and Glycolic Acid to gently exfoliate, refine and smooth out the skin. It also contains Jojoba Beads which add a nice grit without being harsh or abrasive. I love using this as a morning or second cleanse and I've definitely noticed an improvement in my overall skin texture since I started using this! Full review coming soon!

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Jelly*
You guys already know how much I love Indeed Labs skincare. Any time my skin is freaking out or I just want to go back to basics and use something fragrance-free, this is the brand I reach for. I tried their original Hydraluron Serum a couple years ago and absolutely loved it but I think this might even be better! Firstly it comes in a pot which I naturally prefer and the actual formula is a lot thinner and more easily absorbed. I've only been using it for a week and a bit but it's definitely helped lock in moisture and keep my skin nice and plump! Full review coming soon!

Indeed Laboratories Pepta-Bright Skin Brightener*
This is something I've wanted to try for quite a while now as dullness and uneven skin tone are two of my biggest skincare concerns. I've only used this a couple of times but so far I'm really enjoying it. It's supposed to reduce hyperpigmentation, prevent and treat dark spots and protects against photo-ageing. You apply this as your serum and then follow up with moisturiser and SPF. With a product like this, you have to use it consistently to see results so I'll keep testing it and report back!

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?

I can't believe we're already a week into May - that's crazy! I'm not complaining though as I have quite a few exciting things going on this month including my niece and nephew both turning one (YAY!) and a blogger event which I'm so excited about! I've got quite a few favourites to show you today so instead of rambling on, let's get straight into it!
april favourites 2018 blog post

The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer*
It took me quite a while to try this primer mainly due to the fact it's silicone based but it's actually very different to any silicone product I've ever tried. It has quite a fluid consistency that doesn't leave my skin feeling dry or powdery like most mattifying primers. Another other reason why I love it is that it does an amazing job of blurring pores, texture and blemishes and provides a beautiful smooth base for foundation. It also helps my makeup last a lot longer and stops it from sliding off in the heat. Love!

TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
I've been loving this highlighter recently especially in the evenings when I want something really intense. It's a beautiful champagne-gold shade that will suit just about everyone! I've had this one for a good couple years now and it's still going strong. It's the perfect Spring/Summer highlighter!

Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Glow Boost Skin Serum
Now that Summer is fast approaching I'm trying to get my skin as clear and radiant as I possibly can and I've been loving using this serum as it gives me a lovely healthy glow as well as hydrating and protecting against free radicals. It has a beautiful light texture that absorbs instantly and the citrus scent always perks me up in the morning.

Glossier Generation G Lipstick in Cake
I know I rave about this lipstick all the time but I still haven't managed to find anything that has the same warm peachy hue and sheer matte finish. It has quite a dry consistency compared to most lip products but it's still really comfortable and easy to apply. I'm definitely going to be buying a few more shades!

The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2%*
As I mentioned earlier I've been trying really hard to get my skin as smooth and glowy as possible and this retinol has really helped refine and brighten my skin. It has a milky serum-like texture which goes on beautifully and I love that it's super gentle and non-irritating. It's also massively been helping with my blackheads which is one of my main skincare concerns.

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
After seeing Anna rave about the new Naked Petite Heat Palette which looks all kinds of beautiful, I decided to dig out my Basics palette and I'm so glad I did! I usually gravitate towards warm eyeshadows but I've been loving these cooler shades for a super quick matte eye that I can apply in seconds.

American English 24K Thickening Lotion*
A couple weeks back I was lucky enough to be invited to an MMCL & American English Haircare event which was seriously so much fun! I got to meet the founders of the brand and learn more about their products and how to use them which was great as I'm pretty useless when it comes to hair! I was kindly gifted a few of their products but my current favourite is definitely the lotion. Once my hair is towel dried I spread a pump of this evenly through my hair and it gives me so much volume and the Seaberry which is rich in Vitamin A, C & E; Omega 3, 6, 7 & 9 and Amino Acids help to hold hydration, prevent breakage and restore elasticity. It smells amazing too!

I don't know about you but I personally think there's something really chic about having a small selection of products displayed nicely on your bedside table. I'm super lazy at night especially when it comes to remembering to apply hand cream or lip balm so having them within arms reach means I'm much more likely to use them. Today I thought I would share with you my current bedside essentials including the facial oil that gives me baby soft skin and an aromatherapy duo which is perfect for those nights when you just can't switch off!
bedside beauty essentials blog post
L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
Just before bed is my favourite time to apply hand cream so I always like to have a tube of this close by. It's extremely nourishing but it never leaves my hands feeling greasy which I love! I can't recommend this enough!

Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Sleep Balm
Being a night owl means it can sometimes be hard for me to switch off so I love applying a bit of this balm to my wrists to help me relax. It's also amazing if you get travel sickness/anxiety!

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Because I work from home I tend to get my evening skincare routine done quite early so once my moisturiser has fully absorbed I like to apply a thin layer of this oil for an extra boost of hydration. It doesn't clog pores and my skin always looks and feels amazing the next morning!

Lush Honey Lip Scrub
I love using this lip scrub two-three times a week as it's perfect for gently exfoliating the lips and getting rid of any dry, flaky skin without being harsh or abrasive. I usually follow with something like the Glossier Balm Dot Com in Coconut which is super moisturising and smells amazing!

Feather & Down Sweet Dreams Pillow Spray
My final bedside essential is this absolutely divine pillow spray which is a must-have for anyone who struggles to get a decent nights sleep. It has the same scent as the balm but it's not heavy or overpowering in the slightest. Every night I do a couple spritzes over my pillow and it creates such a relaxing atmosphere.

As much as my goal is to have beautiful, glowing, J-Lo-esq skin, it can sometimes be hard to achieve with all of the redness and pigmentation I have. BB Creams and tinted moisturisers are perfect for creating a smooth, radiant finish but they don't always provide enough coverage so sometimes I like to switch to a heavier foundation that has a bit more oomph but still looks natural on the skin. Here are my top three picks.
three full coverage foundations blog post
The Ordinary Coverage Foundation
I don't use this foundation very often as it can be a little matte for every day but when my skin is particularly red or blemished this is what I reach for. As the name would suggest it gives amazing coverage but it still looks like skin. It also has amazing staying power so it's great if you have more of a combination/oily skin.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick
I love this foundation and it's definitely one to check out if you're often applying your makeup on the go. I tend to apply this directly to the skin and blend it out with either a damp sponge or a bit of primer water and a buffing brush for a beautiful, even finish. A little goes a long way with this foundation and it blends out to a lovely satin finish that isn't too matte or too glowy.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
For me, this is definitely more of a 'going out' foundation as the overall coverage and finish is a lot heavier than most of my other bases. It looks absolutely flawless on the skin and it's perfect for days when you know you're going to be photographed. I do need to prep my skin before I use this though as it can be unforgiving if you have dry/flaky skin which means exfoliating and moisturiser are essential!
