too faced born this way foundation and concealer review
This year I really want to hop on the bandwagon early and test out the new launches that everyone's talking about. I’ve also just given my stash a good clear out so together this can only mean one thing... shopping!  Obviously, the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation & Concealer aren't new anymore (I'm only about 5 years late to the party) but still, it’s never too late to try something new! I've had these in my makeup bag for a good few months now and I know a lot of people are still unsure whether or not they're worth the hype so today I thought I'd sit down and share my thoughts with you!

This iconic duo was created to help you achieve that naturally flawless 'I woke up like this' vibe whilst being undetectable on the skin. I'd heard so many bloggers & YouTubers praise how beautiful this combo was and I always like to do a lot of research before spending on a high-end product so after seeing the countless rave reviews I decided to bite the bullet and spend the £54. But was it worth it?

Starting with the Born This Way Foundation, I think this is a great everyday option for those who like to wear a proper foundation over a tinted moisturiser/bb cream. The formula is very thin which I personally like as it makes it super easy to blend and doesn't feel heavy on the skin. My preferred way to apply foundation is with a damp Beauty Blender but a buffing brush will give you an equally gorgeous result. Although it claims to be a medium-full coverage, I find it definitely needs at least two layers to provide the latter but then again I have quite a lot of redness and discolouration which isn't easy to disguise. It's available in 35 Shades on the Too Faced website and one of the best things about the range is the extensive shade range and undertone selection. I purchased the lightest of the bunch (no surprise there) called Cloud which is for the fairest with rosy undertones. Usually, I prefer a more yellow base to counteract any red in my skin but the shade above (Swan) is slightly too dark for me and oxidises so I use my concealer to balance out the rosy tones.

The foundation is loaded with Hyaluronic Acid - an amazing ingredient that adds hydration and gives a smoother more plump appearance, Coconut Water to replenish and keep the skin moisturised throughout the day and also Alpine Rose to protect and boost the skin's resilience. In terms of how it lasts and who it's best suited to, I think pretty much anyone can wear this foundation but those with drier skin will probably favour it more as it gives a gorgeous healthy sheen. Oilier folks might prefer something slightly thicker and more matte. I always set my base with powder and 95% of the time I like to bake but I find the Born This Way Foundation lasts a good 8-9 hours on my skin with no touch-ups whichever way I set it. I don't find it sticks to dry areas or accentuates my pores but with any foundation, you want to make sure you have a well-prepped base for the best application. My dehydration lines start to show towards the 7-8 hour mark but so far I've had no problems with my natural oils breaking down the product or going patchy - I'm impressed!

Moving onto the Born This Way Super Coverage Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer, this has got to be one of the most hyped products of 2019. Over the past year, I've really adopted the 'Instagram' makeup trend and have become a bit of a full coverage junkie. As the name would suggest, this baby is designed to do it all; conceal, highlight and sculpt whilst offering a weightless formula that doesn't cake or settle in lines. It has a big cushiony doe-foot applicator which I love and like the foundation, it's available in 35 Shades - mine is in Cloud again but this has more neutral undertones. I've definitely fallen in love with this concealer as it's perfect for hiding blemishes, redness, dark circles and any other imperfections but doesn't leave me feeling like I'm wearing an extra layer of product (even though I kinda' am.) The texture is quite thick but still feels super creamy allowing more time to blend it out. It's also a great one to check out if you find your current concealer separates and looks cakey throughout the day. I adore this concealer for both natural and glam makeup days, it really is a multi-tasker but my only gripe is that again, it's still not a full-full coverage. My redness can still peek through but that being said, I do like my base to be super blanked out.

In future I would definitely repurchase the concealer, the foundation still isn't my dream formula and typically I prefer a more glowy finish but it's still a great option for anyone looking for something new!

Have you tried this Too Faced duo? Do you think they're worth the hype?
