Being a Summer baby means I've always had a love for the warmer months. I know I often complain as the weather starts hotting up but that's because I turn into a sweaty mess - it's not a cute look! One thing I always struggle with during Summer is finding products that work for my skin as both my face and body can be very temperamental. Nivea is one of those classic go-to brands for pretty much everyone in the UK as their scents, formulas and packaging are just so nostalgic. Seaside trips have always been one of my favourite things to do around this time of year and today I wanted to talk you through my ideal day out and some of the products I've been using to help my skin look and feel Summer ready.

Like most people, my skin starts to get a bit oilier and more congested during the warmer months so I like to keep my skincare routine really simple, especially if I'm off to somewhere like Brighton for the day. I also tend to stick to a very minimal makeup look but I always make sure to apply a good quality SPF as my skin burns very easily. I've been loving the new Nivea UV Face Shine Control Cream SPF50* as it offers both UVA and UVB protection and hydrates my skin without being greasy or clogging. It has a lovely light texture, there's no stickiness and it absorbs beautifully into the skin and also helps mattify the face so you don't look like you've just come back from a 5-mile run!

I'm not much of a summer fashionista - I'm definitely a jeans and boots kind of gal, but when you're off to the beach you can't go wrong with a little flowy dress, some strappy sandals and a pair of oversized sunnies. On the rare occasion, I do have my arms and legs out I always like to use some sort of moisturiser to give me a bit of a sheen and overall healthy glow. The Cherry Blossom & Jojoba Oil Oil In Lotion* smells absolutely incredible and leaves my limbs feeling beautifully smooth and hydrated. It's one of those scents that reminds you of that particular aunt or family friend who always smells like she's come straight from the high-end perfume counters. I've very fussy with body creams as a lot of them can be too rich but this has a gorgeous silky texture that never feels heavy. Perfection.

Of course, if you're going to be laying on the beach or out in the sun browsing the shops and walking along a pier you need to protect your body and my go-to will always be the Nivea SPF30 Sun Lotion* which now comes in a pocket size which I think is genius! You just can't beat their original formula and the smell always takes me back to childhood holidays where I spent 80% of my time in the pool and the other 20% stuffing my face with burgers and ice-cream. Ahh, memories...

Every three-four months I like to update you guys on my current base routine as I'm always trying new foundations, concealers etc as they're some of my favourite products and personally I think you can always find something that little bit better. Recently I've chopped and changed quite a few items but I've managed to narrow it down to a nice handful of products that give me a flawless glowing base that still looks fresh and natural on the skin! Who says you can't have your cake and wear it too?

I'm not going to lie my primer stash is starting to get a bit out of hand but I can't find it in my heart to throw any of them away. I've actually gotten to a point where I use more than one on a daily basis (high-maintenance or what?). I really struggled to streamline which ones to keep in my makeup bag but my go-to picks right now are The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer* which is amazing for blurring pores and smoothing any uneven texture and MAC Strobe Cream for achieving the J-Lo glow. I also love the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base on days where my skin is looking a bit sad and needs a pick me up.

Moving onto foundation, my taste has changed quite a lot over the past few weeks and I've been opting for bases that aren't super glowy which is what I usually opt for. My love affair with the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF 50 is still going strong but at the moment it's been put on hold as the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation ticks all the boxes. It has the perfect fluid consistency whilst still providing a good medium-buildable coverage and satin finish. If I'm having a bad skin day then I'll use the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer to cover any redness/blemishes that are still showing through and also to lift and brighten my under-eye area. Powder is where my routine has become slightly more full-on as I've recently started baking, not an insane amount, just enough to set my under-eyes and carve out my cheek area for a more polished finish. You definitely need to have a hydrated base underneath though or it can start to look dry and cakey really fast. At the moment I'm using the Revolution Baking Powder in Lace which is super affordable and does the job perfectly. I also add a dusting of the Bare Minerals Invisible Light Translucent Powder Duo all over the face for a subtle shimmer-free glow!

After I've perfected my foundation I'll add a hint of colour to the cheeks, usually using the Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk or Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop and then to tie everything together I'll apply a shed load of the champagne highlighter from my Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Palette. Et voila!
