The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

This mask had been on my radar for a good few months but I put off purchasing it as I wasn't sure whether it was going to be worth the money. It's not the priciest mask out there but it's not cheap either. After reading so many positive reviews and noticing that I had a £5 voucher saved on my membership card, I decided to give in and buy it. My skin has been oilier than usual recently which has meant more congestion and more blemishes, but in a way that's a good thing as it's given me the perfect excuse to start trying this out. I've been using it twice a week for about a month and I've already noticed a big difference in my skin. There's definitely a reason why this is so hyped...
The mask costs £16 for 75ml which I think is pretty good especially when you compare it to similar products like the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment which is more than double the price! It comes in a glass jar with a twist off cap. I wouldn't recommend it for travel as it is fairly heavy.

The mask is 100% vegan and is formulated with Moroccan Lava Clay, Bamboo Charcoal, Green Tea Leaves and Organic Tea Tree Oil. It does an amazing job at drawing out impurities and refining the skin leaving it clear, smooth and balanced. It also gently exfoliates which gives the skin a gorgeous healthy glow. There is a slight tingling sensation when it's on the skin but it's nothing to worry about. I would say this is great for anyone except those with sensitive skin.
I like to apply the mask with my fingers after cleansing but you can use a brush if you prefer. It's really easy to spread over the face despite it being a thick texture. Like most charcoal masks, it starts to dry quite quickly so you only need to leave it on for 10-15 minutes. Once the mask has set I just use a bit of warm water to loosen the product and then use a flannel to remove it. My skin is super clear and bright after using this and it feels a lot smoother too.

This is a great product to have in your stash when your skin needs a really good clear out. I love it so much, it's replaced all of my other purifying face masks! I can't recommend it enough!

Have you tried this yet? What did you think?

  2. Such a shame I have sensitive skin, as it sounds very promising! I've tried a couple of masks from this range and I personally wasn't very impressed by them, but this one sounds really lovely! Great review :)
